The catalogue presents the work of nine contemporary artists from Iraq. Text and texture have a shared origin: texere, or Latin for “to weave.” The exhibition’s title uses this shared word root to enmesh the idea of text with that of texture. A diamond pattern of crops from the work in the exhibition is used on the cover and throughout the publication to convey the theme of texture and weaving.
